TULSA, OK - Tuesday night's Muskogee vs. Broken Arrow boy's varsity basketball game ended 48-48, after a Muskogee player collapsed on the court.

Although the game played Tuesday didn't carry much meaning other than a final-week tune-up before the playoffs, the game ended with a very scary moment.

With less than two minutes to go, the game tied, Muskogee guard Jerome Beasley began grabbing his chest. Beasley collapsed near midcourt and had to be transported by emergency personnel to South Crest Hospital where he was treated in the ER and did not have to stay the night.

It's still not clear what caused his collapse, but what is clear is the skill and preparedness the trainers at Broken Arrow showed.

Although an AED was not needed, both the certified athletic trainer, and the Broken Arrow student trainer, Corie Hill knew exactly what to do, even though Hill says she had never been in this situation before.

"I was definitely in disbelief, I at first thought it was just an injury and then I realized that it was something more serious than that and the first thing I could do was run to get the AED, " said Hill.

Jerome's father, Roscoe Beasley, spoke to the NewsOn6 on the phone the day after his son's collapse. He said Jerome is recovering at home, and he seems to be doing much better. He added it's not clear what caused the collapse, and it's not certain when Jerome will return to the court. He wanted to make sure and let everyone know how much the Beasley family appreciates the heroism of the Broken Arrow staff.
