TULSA, OK -- A hit-and-run suspect's on the run.  Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say a driver caused another car to crash on I-44 and then took off.

The man driving the car that crashed died at the scene. He has been identified as 63-year-old William Edwards of Bristow.

As the sun went down over Interstate 44 near Lewis, investigators gathered up the last bits of evidence.  They are clues they hope will lead them to a driver in this fatal hit and run.  They say the driver was speeding, weaving in and out of traffic in the westbound lanes and hit an SUV.

"If you're driving reckless, if you're speeding, if you're weaving in and out of traffic you're asking for a crash to happen. In this case, it was the worst crash that could have happened," said OHP Trooper Matt Logsdon.

The driver of a red Chevy Tracker was ejected when his SUV was pushed off the highway and rolled.  OHP troopers say the other driver took off in a black Toyota Celica.

Witnesses say the crash kicked up too much dust to get a tag number or to even see where the driver went.

"Tulsa Police are canvassing the area. They have been since the accident came out, attempting to locate the vehicle. From what witnesses said damage to the vehicle seemed pretty severe. They do not think the vehicle would have been able to make it very far," said OHP trooper Matt Logsdon.

Troopers say Edwards was not wearing his seatbelt.

Witnesses tell troopers it was a white man driving the black Toyota Celica.  They say it should have extensive front end and passenger side damage.
