TULSA, OK -- It's been a big week for Tulsa musician Tom Basler. He lost another 7 ½ pounds and had a brush with Hollywood.

The News On 6 is following Big Tom's progress as he tries to lose 200 pounds and find a new weigh.

Workouts are getting more intense as Big Tom moves through week seven of the Health for Life program. He's already at 20% of his weight loss goal, is sticking to his eating plan and feeling confident he can go the distance.

"I don't feel like I'm dieting, which is why I know it's going to work," said Tom Basler. "I'm not giving things up and feeling like I'm punishing myself and walking around hungry. Or think, I wish I had this or I want to eat that. I don't experience that. And I'm not hungry, I'm not."

Tom says one of the keys to his success so far is accountability. Even if he feels like slacking off, his trainer, Jonathan Conneely, is there to hold his feet to the fire.

Tom says it makes a world of difference.

"If you try to do things on your own, I don't think you're going to push yourself, even if it's just a friend or a dog," said Tom.

"It's about getting people moving again. So many people have lived a sedentary lifestyle and they're motivated to get fit, lose weight, they may even have some knowledge. Our goal is this, let's give them a game plan," said Jonathan Conneely, of Bootcamp Tulsa.

Tom's game plan took an interesting turn last weekend. He auditioned for the TV show, "The Biggest Loser."

"They actually contacted me. They'd seen the stories you've been doing, somehow they came across those on the internet and a lady called me from L.A. and said, ‘we're having auditions in Oklahoma City and we'd like you to be there,'" said Tom.

Tom's not expecting to be chosen for the show. He'll stick to the bright lights of Tulsa and the watchful eye of Jonathan Conneely, who has some fitness advice for all of us.

"Get a friend, get a trainer, someone that can hold you accountable and get you started," said Conneely. "Once you build that habit, it's not as hard, but it's getting back in the groove of things, getting that kick start once again."

Follow Tom's progress.
