TULSA, OK -- Oklahoma is known for its wacky weather.  But, it seems like we've been on a particularly wild rollercoaster ride this winter.

It will get down to near freezing on Monday night, but come Friday, many may want to break out the shorts and sandals.  It's supposed to be in the 80s.

We've gone from freezing rain to blazing sunshine, all in the matter of a couple of hours.

"I have noticed more extreme temperature changes over shorter time periods this winter than I can recall. And, I've looked back over the record books and it seems to be verified," said News On 6 meteorologist Dick Faurot.

Take December 14th, 2008.  It's going down in the record books for second biggest temperature swing in one day.  Plunging from a balmy 75 degrees in the afternoon to 19 degrees and sleet by midnight.

Oklahoma winters have always had their share of ups and downs.  And, it isn't over yet.

"March can be a little crazy.  Typically when we get our heavy snows usually, not always, usually it will occur in March," said News On 6 meteorologist Dick Faurot.

This year, the old saying is particularly true:  if you don't like the weather, wait a while, it'll change.

"After all this is Oklahoma and this is what gives us some job security is these crazy swings," said News On 6 meteorologist Dick Faurot.

Speaking of crazy swings, November 11, 1911 holds the record for biggest temperatures swing in 24 hours, plummeting from 85 to 15 degrees.
