SAND SPRINGS, OK -- A man is on the run after leading Sand Springs Police on a high speed chase overnight.

It all started just before 3 a.m. Tuesday near state Highway 97 and U.S. Highway 412.

Sand Springs Police say the suspect was trying to steal cigarettes inside a Wal-Mart.  But they say when he found out officers were on to him, he ran.

Police say he wasn't alone.  Officers say a woman was waiting for the suspect the whole time and once the man came out he pushed her to the passenger side and drove off.

Police chased the suspects for four miles at speeds reaching more than 100 miles per hour.  Police officers used tire deflators to help bring the chase to an end.

That is when the driver got out and ran away.

The female passenger was arrested for suspicion of drugs and intoxication.  Her name was not released.

Sand Springs Police are still looking for the driver, but they have little to go on.  They say the woman passenger claims she doesn't know much about the suspect.

Police think the suspect was headed for Tulsa.
