Andrew Adams

Andrew Adams joined News 9 in November 2021 as a Meteorologist. You can watch him on weekend mornings and during severe weather coverage. Andrew grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, so he knows Tornado Alley well. A few months before turning 6, an EF-3 tornado touched down a few miles from his house, and ended up tracking right through Downtown Fort Worth. Young Andrew got hooked on this event, but the passion blossomed on his journey to becoming an Eagle Scout. The first merit badge he earned was weather merit badge, which was no coincidence. Fast forward to 2018 and he graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Meteorology and a minor in Broadcast Meteorology.

Right out of college, Andrew worked in Northeast Kansas, where he forecasted severe weather ranging from blizzards and record flooding to tornadoes. The pinnacle of these events was the Linwood, Kansas EF-4 tornado. After his stop in Kansas, Andrew moved to hurricane country. He spent the last two years in Southwest Florida where he forecasted 2020s record breaking hurricane season, and a very active 2021 season. The most impactful storms for Southwest Florida that Andrew got to face were Eta in 2020 and Elsa in 2021. While the tropics had their charm, Andrew is thrilled to return to Tornado Alley.

Andrew is a huge sports fan. His favorite sports teams are the Oklahoma Sooners and the Dallas sports teams (Cowboys, Rangers, Mavericks, and Stars). Since he also went to OU at the same time as Baker Mayfield, he supports the Browns.

Andrew also enjoys sports as a hobby. His favorite is alpine skiing... though of course you need mountains for that. He is an avid tennis and golf player, though he admits his golf skill is subpar. It's not uncommon to find Andrew enjoying the fresh air outside, but he'll also binge shows on Netflix or read on the couch.
