TULSA, Oklahoma -- After erasing a four-run deficit, a ninth-inning home run gave Tulsa its second consecutive loss at the hands of the Springfield Cardinals Monday, an 8-7 loss to end the series.

After falling behind 4-0, Tulsa (23-20) trailed just 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to a solo home run from Ben Paulsen in the bottom of the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth, Tim Wheeler doubled to right field to score Warren Schaeffer from third to tie the game.

Hector Gomez sent a ground-ball single to center field to bring Michael Mitchell home and give the Drillers a 6-5 advantage, their first of the game. In the next at-bat, Paulsen knocked a line-drive single to right field to bring home Wheeler and take a two-run lead into the ninth inning.

Tulsa closer Adam Jorgenson (0-2) came in to close the game, but struggled mightily in his closing appearance. A leadoff double and a ground ball single to shortstop put two runners on base for Alex Castellanos, who homered to left field to give the Cardinals (19-24) the win. Jorgenson received his second loss in his second blown save of the season, giving up three hits and three earned runs.

Springfield’s Samuel Freeman (1-0) was credited with his first win of the season, giving up just one hit in one inning of service.

Tulsa will now take a day off to travel, before starting a four-game series against the Midland Rockhounds at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
