TULSA, OK -- Every pet owner who has a dog or cat to be groomed has to drop the animal off at the shop and pick it up hours later. But, there is a Tulsa groomer who turns the tables a bit. She does the driving and brings the grooming shop to your front door.
Sandra Blakley parks her Chase-n-Tails mobile grooming salon, starts the generator and powers up. On Thursday, she was going to give Pepper, a 13-year-old schnauzer, a bath.
Blakley has been grooming dogs and cats for over 15 years. She always wanted her own place, and when she read about mobile services on the east and west coast she decided the time was right, except the economy's terrible.
"Don't think I didn't think about that...it kind of scared me to death," said Sandra Blakley.
But, she says even with all the economic bad news the project's been a real blessing. Clients like Carol Willard, who owns Pepper, loves the service.
"She gives him his massages and takes care of him. It's over in about an hour, and he's a very happy dog," said Carol Willard.
Before Pepper's visit is done, he gets his ears cleaned and his teeth brushed.
Sandra's mobile salon carries its own water and with the generator the thing is self sufficient and can operate anywhere.
Chase-n-Tails has a complete list of services on their website.
