TULSA, OK -- People are going cow crazy at the Tulsa Fairgrounds this week. More than 2,000 people are in Tulsa this week for the 2009 Junior National Hereford Expo.

Young cattle owners compete in 22 different skill-based contests in everything from a cattle quiz bowl to showmanship. More than $24,000 in scholarships is awarded to the winners, but many say it isn't about the money.

"To me it's lifetime friends, said Amy Stolee of Wisconsin. "I have friends that I see here that I grew up showing cattle with, so I mean it's all about them - friendships, maturing and becoming good adults, work ethic. These kids work really hard with these cattle all year round to bring them."

This is the 10th year for the expo, and in honor of the decade-long tradition, organizers decided to have it in Tulsa, where the very first Hereford Expo was held.

That means this year's theme was "Take Me Back To Tulsa."
