BROKEN ARROW, OK -- Broken Arrow Public Schools' new 4th & 5th Grade Center at 251 E. Omaha will host a special open house for students, parents, patrons, and the community from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The 96,000 square foot 4th & 5th Grade Center is the school system's first two-story elementary school and the 15th elementary school in the district. It can host about 800 students and will feature 48 classrooms as well as a gymnasium and full-service cafeteria.

"We are very proud of our new school, and are excited for our community to see it," said Principal Sue Katterhenry.

The school will ease overcrowding at nearby Liberty and Country Lane elementaries, she continued.

"It is an honor and pleasure for us to be able to host this special Open House to show our patrons what their support has provided in our new 4th & 5th Grade Center," said Dr. Gary Gerber, School Superintendent.

"We are grateful for our community's investment in this facility, which greatly helps our ability to meet the educational needs of elementary students in that part of the School District."

The first day of school for the 2009-2010 school year for all students in Broken Arrow Public Schools is Wednesday, Aug. 12.
