TULSA, OK -- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notified doctors of a recall of about 800,000 H1N1 vaccine doses. The announcement was made Tuesday.

The doses are pre-filled syringes made by Sanofi Pasteur and were intended for young children, ages 6 months to almost three years.

The CDC recalled the doses after tests indicated they may not be potent enough to protect against the virus.

Tulsa County Health officials say the county did receive some doses of the recalled vaccine.

The Tulsa Health Department is not sure how many recalled doses they received, but reports initial data indicates one child received the effected vaccine.

Melanie Christian with the Tulsa Health Department says there could potentially be more.

"There is no health risk associated with this vaccine recall and those who received it do not need to be re-vaccinated," Christian said.

Currently, the only way to identify who received the vaccine is through the statewide data entry system called OSIIS. Once a person is vaccinated, providers have up to 7 days to enter the vaccination into the data system which includes the vaccine lot number administered.
