BARTLESVILLE, OK -- A 19-year-old Bartlesville man remains in the Washington County jail after he was arrested last week by Bartlesville Police on a variety of complaints including cruelty to animals, grand larceny and public intoxication.

Gregory Arpin was arrested after an investigation by police into the theft and death of a poodle in the 1500 block of South Dewey last Thursday.

Police chief Tom Holland says the dog's owner told officers Arpin took the animal from his front yard shortly after 1 a.m. New Years Eve.

Holland says Arpin told officers he panicked after taking the dog, throwing it to the ground and then buried the dog's body in a nearby snow bank.

The poodle is valued at $600 according to the dog's owner.

Holland says the dog's body will be sent to the OSU Veterinarian School in Stillwater to determine the cause of death.
