TULSA, OK -- A project to widen Interstate 44 from just east of Yale Avenue to just west of 41st Street is scheduled to start Monday, January 11, according to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.

According to an ODOT news release, the project will widen the highway from four lanes to six and replace the bridges over Darlington Avenue.

The $11 million project is scheduled to take a year to complete, but incentives are in place to expedite the work, ODOT says.

During the first phase of construction, Darlington Avenue will be closed underneath I-44, and drivers can expect possible delays on both east and westbound I-44.

Daily lane and ramp closures will be noted in the traffic advisories section on ODOT's web site.
