ROLAND, OK -- A 1-year-old Fort Smith girl who was shot while riding in a car with two suspected robbers has died at an Arkansas hospital.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart says Elaine Keene died Monday at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock after being shot in the head Saturday. He says the girl was in a car driven by her mother who took two teenagers to a home near Roland where a robbery and beating took place.

Lockhart says the teenagers broke into the home where they robbed and beat 21-year-old Devin Jeremiah. He says the two teens then got into the car as the woman drove away.

Lockhart says Jeremiah fired a .22 caliber rifle at the car with one shot hitting the one-year-old in the head.

Nineteen-year-old Michael Clemente of Fort Smith turned himself in on Sunday and a 17-year-old male was arrested Monday.  The mother's name has not been released.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case for possible additional charges.
