TULSA, OK -- The city of Tulsa is one of a number of communities across the U.S. competing for Google's ultra-high speed broadband network.

In a news release from the city, officials say while Tulsa is in the running, to be selected, the city of Tulsa will need community support.

Google's ultra-high speed broadband network would deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today.

Officials say Tulsa residents are urged to fill out an on-line survey at www.google.com before March 26.

Tulsa says in the news release, by getting this special network, Tulsa residents and businesses would improve their Internet access and promote the city on the cutting edge of communication and technology.

City officials say a Google account is needed to participate in the survey, but it is free to sign up.

The community survey web site is at www.google.com.
