KELLYVILLE, OK -- Strong southerly winds and low humidity have raised Oklahoma's wildfire danger Wednesday. On Wednesday afternoon, crews are back out in the wind fighting wildfires near Prue and Sapulpa.
One fire in Creek County Wednesday night destroyed several structures on rural property near 201st and Slick Road near Kellyville.
Firefighters from Sapulpa, Kellyville, Slick, and Bristow were called in to bring the flames under control.
Several structures burned, including some vacant chicken houses.
A woman whose family manages the property says the fire burned about 60 acres. The family believes gusty winds may have carried sparks from a nearby grass fire to their property.
"It was intentionally set to burn the field, that one was, and we think the spark from it, came through the wind and hit the natural gas and could've started this fire, but we're not sure," said Sarah Davis.
There were horses on the property but they managed to escape the flames.
No one was injured.
Meanwhile, emergency officials have allowed Choctaw residents back in their homes after a large grass fire forced many people to evacuate in central Oklahoma.
About 30 homes were evacuated Monday afternoon as a grassfire approached the area. Nine different departments were called in to bring the flames under control.
Del City firefighters say the fire burned as much as 300 acres, but didn't damage any structures.
Again, no one was injured.
An underground power cable and not high winds was to blame for at least one power outage early Thursday morning. The outage impacted 1,000 customers along 71st Street between Trenton and Riverside Drive.
