NORMAN, Oklahoma -- A Norman police officer fired a shot, hitting a man while responding on a call Friday morning. The man later died at the hospital.
Officer responded to an apartment in southeast Norman concerning an intoxicated individual threatening suicide. Upon arrival, officers encountered a person with a firearm outside on a back patio. During the encounter the person was shot by police.
Police identified the man on Friday as 31-year-old Jesse Shipley.
Shipley was transported to Norman Regional Hospital by an ambulance where he later died.
