TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett said Tuesday that Tulsa's highway lights would be reactivated September 1.

The lights were turned off to save money, but through other cuts, the City of Tulsa has money available to turn on the lights once again.

The City Council, over the mayor's objection, restored money for highway lighting in the budget.

The mayor reacted by delaying expending the money.

Bartlett said Tuesday the council didn't appropriate enough money to run the lights for a full year, but by turning them on September 1, there would be enough money to keep them on until June 30th. Bartlett said PSO's higher rates were a factor in the calculation.
