ADA, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, along with the FBI and Oklahoma Highway Patrol have arrested a violent bank robbery suspect, according to OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown.

According to Brown, 35-year-old Rashad Lamar Branagh and two others robbed a bank in Laguna Hills, California at gunpoint in May. When Branagh fled the area, a California highway patrolman pulled him over and he fired several shots at the trooper. Two suspects were taken into custody later that day, but Branagh got away. The patrolman was not injured.

Branagh fled to his uncle's apartment in the 700 block of East 16th Street in Ada.

OSBI said agents made the arrest this morning just before 11 a.m. in Ada.

OSBI agents acting on a tip were watching the apartment complex where they believed Branagh was hiding. When Branagh left this morning, an OHP trooper stopped the vehicle and agents took him into custody.

"A coordinated effort by many agencies made this arrest possible and allowed authorities to take a violent person off the streets," Brown said.

Brown said during his criminal career, Branagh has been arrested for murder.
