SHAWNEE, Oklahoma -- A family said a Labrador Retriever found shot in Shawnee is their missing dog.
Over a hundred calls flooded the Shawnee Animal Shelter after a Labrador suffering from a gunshot wound was given a second chance and put up for adoption.
The Labrador Retriever was found shot in the shoulder at a Shawnee neighborhood Tuesday morning. The Shawnee Animal Shelter supervisor has since taken the dog to a vet. She is now under the medical attention of a local non-profit SPAR before heading to a lab shelter in Tulsa.
Now, a Shawnee couple, Tim and Heidi Jones, said the dog belongs to them.
"She has been missing since Tuesday and we'll do anything to get her back," said Heidi Jones, the dog's owner.
"We've had Gabbi since she was a puppy, I got her as a present from my wife two and a half years ago," Tim Jones said. "I was watching NEWS 9 Thursday and saw her picture and said 'Hey, that's my dog.'"
The Joneses said they have all the pictures to prove they are her owner and said they were told Friday evening that they will be reunited with Gabbi first thing in the morning.
