OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City native Elise Hall is still in college, but at only 21 years old, she will serve as one of the state's youngest lawmakers.

Hall won the House District 100 race Tuesday night with 62 percent of the vote. She defeated fellow Republican opponent David Looby. Hall will not face any candidates in the November 2 general election because there are no Democrats running for the seat.

Hall said she is blown away by the support she has received. She gained voters by using social media sites, Facebook and Twitter.

"I woke up this morning and thought 'Did that really happen yesterday?'" said Hall.

It wouldn't have happened without close support.

"We campaigned six days a week since June, our family and volunteers every single evening so we worked incredibly hard," said Elise's sister Molly Hall.

Elise Hall made it a priority to meet voters face to face and make constant status updates.

"The best way to talk to people is knocking on their doors," Hall said. "Some of my supporters would update their Facebook statuses through the day and say 'I just got out and voted for Elise Hall, you should too."

She believes she gained the young vote through social media, the same generation that sparked her interest to run for state office.

"I can make a difference for my generation and the generations to come," said the new state representative.

Hall is a junior in college and works as marketing director for a landscaping business. She said she will lighten her college load to keep up with her state rep duties.
