Tulsa Man Shot Multiple Times In Apparent Home Invasion

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- A Tulsa man was shot multiple times in an apparent home invasion. The shooting occurred at about 12:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of East 66th Court. 

Some information provided by the Tulsa Police Department Thursday afternoon indicated that the man had died of his injuries, but The News On 6 has learned that he is still alive.

The 49-year-old man was sleeping early Thursday afternoon when, police say, he heard a commotion in his front room, near the window.

When he went to check it out he found someone was trying to break into his house, he got into an argument, and was shot several times in the chest.

The suspects took off. Police believe it was three teenage boys. The victim staggered out of his home, across the lawn, and went down the street to a nearby home in the 6600 block of South Troost.

Christina Boatright and Amy Humphreys, home healthcare nurses, were taking care of their patient inside a nearby home when they ran into the street to find the man covered in blood.

"We were taking care of a patient and heard something that sounded like a hurt cat outside, it didn't really sound like a cry for help. I went outside to go see what was going on, to investigate," Boatright said.

They called 911 but say didn't need to do much to tend to his wound.

"He was in a lot of pain but as long as he was up and moaning, that's a good thing," Boatright said.

The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Tulsa Police conducted a search, but no one has been arrested. 

Witnesses said they saw three black males running south from the house towards some apartments. They are described as 16 to 19 years old. Alexander said one suspect was dressed in a gray khaki shirt with long plaid shorts, and a second teen was wearing a black shirt and shorts.
