OKLAHOMA CITY -- A metro woman turned away a would-be robber by offering him religion, according to Oklahoma City police.
The woman claimed that a man knocked on her front door on September 18, asking to use her phone. The police report states that she was "scared not to let him use the phone."
The woman handed the phone to the man through the door, he made a call, and then forced his way inside the house. He then pointed a gun at the woman and demanded money. The woman told him she didn't have any. He then demanded jewelry, and the woman responded that she didn't have any of value.
The would-be robber claimed that he just got out of prison and needed money. That's when the woman tried a different approach, that had a surprising result.
"God changed my life, he can change yours," she told him.
The man responded that he had a master's degree in theology, dropped the gun down to his side, and left.
