TULSA, Oklahoma -- A Tulsa motorcyclist is in a Joplin hospital after his bike struck the rear of a van on the Will Rogers Turnpike almost 4 miles east of Vinita Wednesday night.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 30-year-old Eric McCray was westbound when he hit the rear of a van causing him to be thrown off his motorcycle for about 234 feet.

Troopers say McCray was exceeding the posted speed limit at the time of the crash.

McCray was admitted to the hospital with head, arm, leg and other internal injuries. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Two people in the van, 52-year-old Ronald Dillion and 53-year-old Jennifer Elzo, both of Tulsa, were not injured.

The crash occurred just before 10 p.m.
