OKLAHOMA CITY -- An 18-year-old Yukon woman was killed when she drove her SUV into the back of a semi-trailer truck parked by the side of Interstate 40 in Oklahoma City overnight Sunday. Marissa L. Cooley was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on eastbound I-40 at Council Road.
Troopers say Cooley was driving eastbound at 3:20 a.m. when her Dodge Durango left the roadway to the right for an unknown reason and struck a Peterbuilt semi truck that was parked on the outside shoulder of the highway.
The truck driver, 51-year-old Foss resident Ellis S. Hoelscher, was working on the truck, outside the vehicle. He refused treatment at the scene.
The cause of the accident and Cooley's condition at the time of the collision are still under investigation, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Cooley was wearing a seat belt, and airbags deployed. Her remains were taken to the Medical Examiner's office.
