Bartlesville Digging Out From More Than A Foot Of Snow

BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma -- It was busy day in Washington County where they received more than a foot of snow.

Most of the roads were clear Wednesday evening, but that wasn't the case earlier in the day.

Highway 75 looked like something you would see in the backwoods of Canada. Mountains of snow on each side, and a narrow pass for drivers.

Several cars and big rigs veered off the road, and became stuck in the road at the Walmart Distribution Center near Ramona.

Trucker Tom Griffin was trying to make it through from Houston.

"It started blowing real hard and I couldn't see the road anymore," he said.

Many truckers were stuck for more than five hours,

Downtown Bartlesville almost resembled a construction zone, with road graders and front end loaders clearing the roads.

Crews working 12 hour shifts were busy in downtown Bartlesville, using front end loaders and road graders to clear the roads.

Downtown business owners were doing what they could to stay open.

Mark Ettinger owns an office supply store. He enlisted the help of his daughters to shovel snow.

"I was wanting to do it. I wanted to get out of the house," Ettinger's daughter said.

Most of trucks stuck near the Walmart Distribution Center have been removed. The roads are getting better, but authorities still urge caution when driving.
