OWASSO, Oklahoma – An Owasso convenience store clerk accused of selling an illegal substance was detained last week as part of an undercover investigation, the Owasso Police Department said Monday.

Officers received tips that employees of the Shell Fuel Station at 11700 East 86th Street North were selling an illegal substance known as "K2."

Officers went to the store last Thursday, March 10, 2011, and made a "controlled buy" from clerk Muhammad Ahsan Nadeem.

Officers detained Nadeem after the transaction.  He was later released.  Police are seeking charges against him.

According to police, officers recovered 82.5 grams of "K2."

The substance, which was banned in November 2010, mimics the effects of smoking marijuana, according to the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics.
