TULSA, Oklahoma --  A week ago the devastating Tushka tornado destroyed all three public school campuses in the Atoka County town. The students not only lost their buildings but everything that was inside.

Now, a Tulsa woman is leading a school supply drive to help the 500 Tushka Tigers go back to school. Renee Reed of Premier Hotels wants to help students be prepared when they start back to school next week.

The students will finish the school year starting next week at various churches and community centers in Tushka and Atoka, but they need help with school supplies.

The Tigers need:

  • School backpacks
  • Packs of no. 2 pencils
  • Boxes of black pens
  • Reams of lined paper
  • Folders for class work
  • Boxes of 64-count crayons
  • Small bottles of Elmer's Glue
  • 12-inch rulers
  • Scissors
  • Boxes of tissue

Donors can ask for discounts or help at Big Lots, Dollar General and WalMart when purchasing the supplies.

Premier Hotels is helping with the school supplies drive. The Hilton Garden Inn at 8202 S. 100th East Avenue and the Holiday Inn Tulsa South at 10020 East 81st Street are two locations that will accept supplies.

Donors can also write checks to Premier Hospitality Management (PMHI) to donate to the Tigers.

"The company is taking all the money we get from all 16 hotels to go buy the supplies," said Ben Capers, Director of Sales at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in McAlester.
