Hail, Damaging Winds and Tornadoes Likely In Oklahoma Wednesday

TULSA, Oklahoma – Forecasters are expecting it to be a stormy day across Oklahoma on Wednesday, with very large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes possible.

News On 6 Chief Meteorologist Travis Meyer said a system moving across the state is expected to generate a round of storms Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night that are likely to be severe.

Meyer said hail, dangerous winds, and tornadoes are possible.

Meyer said the greatest threat of severe weather will be in the western part of the state.  The storms are expected to form along I-35 in and around Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon and move into the Tulsa area Wednesday evening.

The system is expected to move north by Thursday. However, some areas of eastern Oklahoma will remain under a severe weather risk Thursday morning, Meyer said.

Cooler air will settle over eastern Oklahoma for the end of the week and the weekend. Highs will be in the low to mid 70's with lows in the upper 40's and low 50's.
