Kevin David Named to Johnny Bench Award Watch List

WICHITA, Kansas -- Oklahoma State junior Kevin David has been named to the watch list for the 2010 Coleman Company-Johnny Bench Award delivered by Papa John’s Pizza.

The Bench Award is given annually to the top catcher in NCAA Division I baseball. David is among 53 players on the 2010 watch list. The award has been given out 10 times since its inception and 11 former finalists are currently playing Major League Baseball.

David recorded 29 doubles and 16 multi-hit games in 2009 while ranking third on the team in RBIs. He was selected in the 35th round of the MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs.

The Bench Award winner will be announced July 1.
