NORMAN, Oklahoma – The Milwaukee Bucks selected former Oklahoma forward Tiny Gallon with the No. 47 overall pick of the NBA Draft Thursday.

Gallon was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of high school, but played only one season at OU. In his freshman year, he averaged 10.3 points and a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game.

“I'm happy for Tiny,” said OU head coach Jeff Capel. “Milwaukee is getting a young player with a lot of talent. He is skilled, has great hands and a good feel for the game. If he is able to get in great condition, he could have a nice career in the NBA.”

Gallon showed flashes of brilliance with the Sooners last season, particularly when operating under the basket. He can be a dominant force on the boards, but too often attempted low-percentage jump shots instead of driving to the basket.

With the Bucks, Gallon will be reunited with former high school teammate Brandon Jennings, who was on the NBA All-Rookie Team this year. Milwaukee focused on its frontcourt in the draft, as Gallon was the fourth forward or center selected by the team.

The Bucks had only one legitimate scoring threat at power forward last season, which prompted them to select both Gallon and Larry Sanders from Virginia Commonwealth.

Gallon will have a chance to contribute off the bench, but as Capel pointed out he will have to improve his conditioning if he wants to become an integral part of any lineup.
