TU Backup Quarterback Injured in Homecoming Win

TULSA, Oklahoma -- The Golden Hurricane's depth at quarterback might have taken a hit in their 52-24 homecoming victory against Tulane on Saturday.

Sophomore quarterback Shavodrick Beaver slid down untouched in the second quarter after a 12-yard run. He got up and began hopping toward the Tulsa sideline, putting no weight on his left leg.

Beaver did not make it all the way off the field before going down again.

He left the playing area to be checked out by the training staff and entered again in the third quarter wearing a protective boot and using crutches to get back to the Tulsa sideline.

If Beaver misses any playing time, starter G.J. Kinne would be the only quarterback on the Tulsa roster with any college experience.

The Golden Hurricane, however, has a bye week this upcoming week for Beaver to heal before they take on Notre Dame on Oct. 30.

Tulsa coach Todd Graham said he thinks Beaver should be OK by the next time his team takes the field.

"(We’ve) been trying to work him into the game plan a little bit more," Graham said. "He’s really matured. Hopefully we can get him well because I think he can be a factor for us because he’s at a point now where he’s maturing and can help us."
