KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Oklahoma Sooners fell behind early and never threatened to get back into the game in a 74-54 loss to Texas Thursday that ended OU’s season.

Texas began the game on an 11-2 run, and things only got more out of hand as time went on. The Longhorns did not go on many more extended runs, but they did not need to. They gradually outscored the Sooners until the game turned into a blowout.

Texas went into the locker room at halftime up 43-20, marking its largest lead of the game. In addition to scoring only 20 points in the half, OU did not make any 3-pointers or free throws and recorded only nine rebounds. UT’s Jordan Hamilton had 15 points at the half, nearly outscoring the entire Sooner team.

Texas continued to keep the Sooners at arms’ length for the rest of the night. The Sooners went on a small run late in the second half to pull within 14 points, but they never got any closer.

Hamilton finished with a game-high 22 points, and Tristan Thompson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Longhorns outrebounded OU 35-18, and the Sooners had only one offensive rebound all game.

Senior Cade Davis led OU with 17 points in his final game as a Sooner. Andrew Fitzgerald scored 10 and was the only other Oklahoma player to score in double digits.

The Sooners’ season is now over, but Texas will move on to the semifinals of the conference championship, where it will face the winner between Texas A&M and Missouri.
