MANHATTAN, Kansas -- A disastrous fifth inning doomed the Oklahoma Sooners to a 6-2 loss Sunday, giving the win in the weekend series to the Kansas State Wildcats.

Oklahoma (24-8, 6-5) led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, thanks to a Casey Johnson solo home run in the top of the second and an Evan Mitch sacrifice fly in the top of the third, but then the pitching broke down.

With one out on the board and runners on first and second, Chase Graskewicy laid down a bunt and reached on a fielder’s choice. Mike Kindel rounded third and continued on home, scoring on an error by pitcher Dillon Overton to score the Wildcats’ (18-12, 4-8) first run of the game.

Two at-bats later, Tanner Wilt put down a sacrifice bunt to advance Graskewicz to third and score Ross Kinet to tie the game. Two batters later, Graskewicz scored the go-ahead run on a balk.

With the bases loaded and two outs, Jared King sent a single back up the middle, scoring Nick Martini and Jake Brown to take a 5-2 lead.

Evan Marshall (3-3) was credited with the win for Kansas State, giving up just one hit and striking out three Oklahoma batters in his 3.2 innings pitched. Oklahoma’s Dillon Overton received just his third loss of the season, giving up five runs – none earned – on two hits and walking five.

The Sooners will try to get back to winning Tuesday with their first of two April games against the TCU Horned Frogs.
