Each morning on my radio show for the next five weeks Ill be counting down my preseason college football Top 25 with some pertinent info about each team. It is without a doubt the most insignificant and unreliable preseason Top 25 youll find anywhere.

I chatted with Florida State play-by-play voice Gene Deckerhoff this week who told me there is a strange feeling around Seminole Land these days without Bobby Bowden around.

Sooner fans have their ears perked up. The Noles are headed to Norman in Week Two. New Head Coach Jimbo Fisher has reportedly interjected new enthusiasm into a program that was not too long ago the elite program in college football. Quarterback Christian Ponder is the real deal. He belongs on the crowded list of Heisman candidates. He averaged more than 300 yards per game passing and completed 68.8% of his passes last season before going down with shoulder injury late in the year.

The pressing question for the Sooners will be, how will OUs two new cornerbacks hold up against the experienced arm of Ponder? The Seminoles also bring back their entire offensive line from 2009 and almost their entire receiving corps. This is a team that blasted BYU in Provo last year two weeks after BYU beat OU. They put up 54 points in that game. Their offense is dangerous.

The Noles defense, however, has been a problem. Enter Mark Stoops. Bobs little brother has been brought in to try to sure-up a Florida State "D" that allowed 38 points last year to Miami, 49 to Georgia Tech, 42 to NC State, 40 to Clemson and 37 to Florida. They were bad against the run and worse against the pass. The game on Owen Field shapes up to possibly be a shootout.

Bottom line: Like so many other teams outside the Top 10, FSU isnt balanced. Good offense, questionable defense. They may have the toughest non-conference schedule in the country...playing Oklahoma, BYU and Florida outside the ACC. I think the Seminoles will fall in Norman, at Miami and to Florida in Tallahassee.

Prediction: 9-3
