OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Eagles will begin their third season in the OSSAA this year, and continue to make it a goal to build on the last year’s successes.

Oklahoma Christian Academy notched three wins in 2009, and Head Coach Keith Lough said consistent weight programs have made his players stronger and faster. The team returns six starters on both sides of the ball, but lack key running back Parker Randell.

The senior tore his ACL and attempted to play on it. He later decided it was best if he supported his team from the sidelines.

“I just have to be a big leader for these guys since I’m out,” Randell said. “We’re a big family and we support each other.”

It’ll be a big loss for the Eagles, as Randell helped carry the team’s offensive game. He ran for 1,300 yards and had 20 touchdowns last season.

“When you lose a guy that got as many yards for us as parker did last year, it’s a big blow to the team,” Lough said. “But I think we’ve got some kids that can step up and take the spot.

“We’re kind of in the process of reconfiguring and seeing who’s going to take his place.”

Coach Lough said he’ll look for sophomore Chase Yeager will to fill the void.

Defensively, the Eagles again will be banking on speed over size. They’re a small but quick bunch. Senior Tyler Holt will be the anchor after racking in 101 tackles as a junior.
