OKLAHOMA CITY -- The goal for most football players in the offseason is primarily the same - get bigger, faster and stronger. You can check all three categories as a "yes" for Millwood Quarterback Kevonte Richardson.

The four-year starter weighs close to 200 pounds, adding 10-15 pounds since last year. The dual-threat quarterback bulked up and still maintained his quickness. Richardson runs a 4.47-second 40-yard dash.

"We've been working on his cuts in the offseason. He's got so many moves, he just has to lower his shoulder and go after somebody," Millwood assistant coach Kevin Cox said.

Richardson's role will increase on offense with the departure of Emilio Gatewood, who left for Norman North.

The Falcons' receiving core is one of the best in the state with Josh Turner and Brandon Swindall, but if no one is open, Richardson has the green light to tuck the football and run with it.

"The pressure is on Kevonte to run the football," Cox said.

The 6-foot-2 senior also plays defensive back for the Falcons. Richardson has more than six scholarship offers for next season.

His versatility could put him at a number of different positions in college. Richardson can play quarterback, wide receiver or safety at the next level. If you ask Richardson where he would like to play, he tells coaches the same answer.

"Wherever you put me, I'm going to play it," Richardson said.

His assistant coach says Richardson has great instincts for a safety.

"He knows where quarterbacks want to go with the ball,” Cox said. “He's a good ball hawk at safety.”

Richardson is taking the recruiting process day by day.

"I'm just going to keep waiting it out," Richardson added.

Tulsa, Missouri and Colorado have his interest the most leading up to his final season opener at Millwood.
