Tipsy Tow is underway through New Year's Eve weekend. It's a live-saving service offered by AAA Oklahoma, open to members and non-members alike.

You, your car and up to one other person can get a free ride home if you feel unsafe to drive after holiday partying.

The service started Friday, December 16 and runs through Monday, January 2 for Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Muskogee, Bartlesville, Enid, Shawnee and Lawton.

"It's never a good idea to drive after drinking," said Chuck Mai, spokesman for AAA Oklahoma.

"Not only do you put yourself and others in jeopardy, but now with Oklahoma's tough new DUI law, even first-time offenders with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 percent or higher face up to six months administrative license suspension along with 18 months of having a mandatory ignition interlock device attached to their car after driving privileges are reinstated," he said.

"The penalties for repeat offenders are even stiffer."

To access Tipsy Tow, call 800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP) and ask for Tipsy Tow. You must be within 15 miles of your home.

Another good reason not to drink and drive – the Oklahoma Highway Patrol will have additional troopers working again this year.
