An Okmulgee County deputy wounded Sunday night near Hectorville has been released from the hospital, according to Sheriff Eddy Rice.

The deputy was shot in the chin while responding to a domestic dispute in the 16000 block of Steele Road. A man at the home shot at deputies, wounding two.

Deputies returned fire, and the suspect was shot in the stomach. He remains in critical condition Tuesday but is expected to recover, Rice said.

Rice said his department has called in the OSBI to assist in the investigation.

"We've only got one charge against him at the moment, but it will be enhanced," Sheriff Rice said. "There will be a whole slew of charges."

The second deputy was hit by shrapnel but did not require hospitalization.

Rice said he is not releasing the name of the wounded deputy or the suspect yet.
