Sixteen people are recovering Wednesday morning after a bus crashed into a street sweeper on eastbound Interstate 40 near Rockwell.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. The sweeper was traveling about 10 mph when the driver of the Greyhound bus changed lanes and slammed into the back of the vehicle. Troopers don't believe the driver fell asleep. They say she may not have been paying attention when the crash occurred.
The driver of the bus was pinned in the wreckage for about 45 minutes. She and two other passengers were admitted to the hospital, but their injuries are not life threatening. Thirteen other passengers also experienced minor injuries. In all, there were 45 people on the bus.
OHP shut down two lanes of eastbound I-40 for more than two hours while crews cleaned up the wreck.
