A silent auction will raise funds for the training of search and rescue dogs for a Tulsa task force. The Mid-Continent Kennel Club will host the auction at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14 at Michael V's Restaurant in Bixby.

The canines and their handlers are members of Oklahoma Task Force 1, an urban search and rescue team based in Tulsa. Staffed by firefighters, law enforcement officers, medical personnel and others, the group trains to respond to disasters across the state and nation.

"The members of the Mid-Continent Kennel Club have taken an interest in the canines and their handlers because of the intense and constant training these teams must participate in to remain effective in emergency situations," said Captain Stan May, public information officer for the Tulsa Fire Department.

Michael V's is located at 8222 E. 103rd Street in Bixby.
