Expect a mostly sunny and mild day with highs in the upper 50s near 60.  Winds will be relatively light compared to yesterday's wind storm across the state.

The big storm system that moved over the area yesterday exploded with thunderstorms across Arkansas and points eastward last night. The preliminary reports from the Storms Prediction Center indicate at least 13 tornado reports with 10 tornadoes reported in Arkansas.

This morning the storms are continuing across portions of Alabama and Georgia.

The main impact across our area yesterday was the extreme wind and dust that arrived across central and eastern OK late yesterday afternoon. The dust came from the high plains of Texas where wind speeds over 60 mph were common. Wind speeds across OK yesterday were also in the 40 to 50 mph range with some higher gusts in the upper 60s across far southwestern OK.  The highest wind speed recorded at Tulsa International was 45 mph.

The system continues to move away from our area leaving Northeastern OK between systems today and for most of tomorrow. This means sunshine will be abundant today with relatively light southeast winds and highs in the upper 50s near 60.  Some high clouds will be possible.

A southern stream system will be developing across southwest Texas tonight and will bring rain into the north Texas area Tuesday and then into northeastern OK Tuesday night into Wednesday.

The GFS and EURO along with the NAM are all three suggesting the bulk of the instability will reside south of the Red River vicinity meaning our precipitation will fall in the form of rain or showers. No severe weather will be expected across Northeastern Ok with very little thunder in our areas of northeastern OK.

The southern stream system will slowly move eastward but the upper level system will be bringing another chance of a few showers to the area Thursday as the system finally moves eastward.  Most of the Thursday pops will be located to our south along the Red River Valley, but we'll keep a slight chance for the Tulsa area.

The temps will be mild today and tomorrow, but will more than likely come down into the 40s Wednesday along with the rain and shower chances.

Temperatures behind the departing system will be seasonal.

Another stronger looking cold front may slide across the area next weekend bringing another short lived intrusion of shallow cold air to the state but no precipitation will be included for the weekend in this forecast cycle.
