In a thrilling matchup of Big 12 foes, the Oklahoma State Cowgirls downed the defending champion and No. 13 ranked Texas A&M Aggies 57-53 Tuesday night in Stillwater.

Despite a combined 54 turnovers by the two teams, Tiffany Bias led the Cowgirls with 14 points and five assists.

Oklahoma State (12-4, 4-3) went 5-for-10 from behind the arc and shot 43.9 percent from the field on the night. The Cowgirls also benefited from 17 points off the bench including nine points from freshman guard Taylor Schippers.

Texas A&M (13-5, 4-3) was held to 35 percent shooting from the field and 40 percent from long range while the Cowgirls forced 26 turnovers. OSU has now held 14 of their last 16 opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the field.

With 3:48 left before the half Schippers knocked down a jumper to ignite an 11-2 run by the Cowgirls. Oklahoma State held the Aggies scoreless for a span of more than seven minutes.

The Cowgirls held Texas A&M to 28.6 percent shooting in the first half and forced 14 turnovers. OSU managed 41.7 percent from the field and went 4-of-6 from long range but committed 11 turnovers.

The rest of the game would come down to the wire while turnovers continued to plague both teams.

The first four minutes of the second period featured six turnovers by the two teams. Oklahoma State's improved shooting carried them early on, but defense began to propel the Aggies.

The Aggies switched things up and went into a full court press that got them back into the game after going down 34-24 early on in the second.

Adaora Elonu and Tyra White came up big for Texas A&M scoring 10 consecutive points for the Aggies during their 10-0 run to take the lead at 38-36.

Despite a to point lead and the improved defense by the Aggies, Elonu fouled out with more than seven minutes left to play and from then on Texas A&M couldn't seem to seal the deal.

With just over five minutes left to play, Bias found Toni Young for a layup to give the Cowgirls a 48-44 lead.

The game was once again knotted at 53, but Bias drove the lane and scored on a fast break layup to put OSU on top 55-53.

Sydney Carter missed a jumper and quickly fouled to send Oklahoma State to the free throw line with 23 seconds left. Lindsey Keller sank both shots to put the Cowgirls up 57-53 and Carter's last second three point attempt fell short to seal the Oklahoma State victory.

The loss for Texas A&M is the first in four games. The Aggies were paced by Tyra White who scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds.

Bias totaled 14 points for the Cowgirls and her two steals were enough to boost her into the school's all-time Top 20 list. She now has 114 career steals. Liz Donohoe added 11 points and eight rebounds.

The Cowgirls are now 2-2 against ranked teams this season and will return to action Saturday, Jan. 28 hosting the Kansas State Wildcats at 11:30 a.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
