The Golden Eagles' offense was too much for UMKC Saturday as Oral Roberts knocked off the Kangaroos 83-70, notching their fourth consecutive win in the process.
Oral Roberts had already built a four-point lead at halftime, but moved to increase their lead in the early moments of the second half. Over the first three minutes of the closing half, ORU strung together an 8-2 run, including three from Kevi Luper, to take a 10-point lead.
Three minutes later and trailing by 11, the Kangaroos scored seven unanswered – capped by a three-pointer from Elise O'Connor – to cut the lead to four points. However, ORU responded with a 7-2 run of its own to push the lead back to nine points.
Holding a 10-point lead at the with 5:55 left to play, Oral Roberts strung together a 15-5 run over the next two minutes to take a 77-58 lead and essentially put the game out of reach.
Luper finished with a game-high 31 points and five steals, while Pyle notched 14 points, six boards and four steals in the Golden Eagles' seventh conference win of the season.
Kim Nezianya turned in a double-double for the Kangaroos, finishing with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Damon Hall-Jones also finished with 14 points, but only managed to grab six rebounds.
Oral Roberts will try to make it five in a row at 7:05 p.m. Monday at home against the South Dakota Coyotes.
