Parents are getting a better idea of what North Tulsa's new charter school will be like.  Lighthouse Academies held a special application kick off Saturday at the World Won Family Life Center.

Tulsa Public Schools has already signed off on the new charter school.

Lighthouse says it'll open in August -- though the location is still up in the air. They're proposing using Greeley Elementary, but that'll require TPS to move the current students there somewhere else.

Angie Walker's son goes to Greeley right now.

She's really looking forward to getting him into Lighthouse Academy -- especially after visiting another of their schools in Arkansas.

"The way they teach the kids, the lesson plans, the environment and culture at the schools is really, really positive, and they also infuse art and I'm really excited about art," parent Angie Walker said.

Lighthouse says it'll begin with Pre-K through fourth grade and then add one grade every year. Right now there are just 280 open spots.

If more than 280 kids apply, a lottery will be held in April.
