Jury selection is underway in an Okmulgee County courtroom for a Henryetta man charged with killing a Glenpool teacher in January, 2011.

Michael Kafer, 63, is charged with second degree murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the death of Mary Beth "Penny" Kafer.

Investigators say Michael Kafer was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that hit and killed Penny Kafer, his sister-in-law, on January 16, 2011, at a home near Henryetta.

Penny Kafer taught at Glenpool Public Schools for 26 years.

The court clerk's office says one of the attorneys in the case has had a death in the family, so once the jury is seated, opening statements will be postponed until Monday, April 2, 2012.
