STILLWATER, Oklahoma - One person is dead after a house fire in Stillwater late Thursday night.

The fire happened just before 11 p.m. just southeast of the Oklahoma State University campus.

Stillwater Fire says two people were inside the home at 15th Avenue and Fern but one was able to make it out okay.

"I'm pretty sure it was a passerby that called in," said Stillwater Deputy Fire Marshal Neil Moore. "I did do some talking with some of the neighbors, and some people driving down the road stopped and ran to the house trying to obtain whether or not there was anybody inside."

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

Investigators have not released the name of the victim. It's not known if the residents were OSU students.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
