MANHATTAN, Kansas – The Cowboys continued two streaks on Sunday. The first was a streak of putting up big numbers on the offensive side of the plate.

The second, and more important, streak is that Oklahoma State has now won eight straight games.

OSU kept its momentum going with a 9-5 road win against the Kansas State Wildcats on Sunday.

And once again, the Cowboys came through with some big scoring late in the game.

After the teams traded runs in the first inning, neither team scored again until the top of the fourth.

Mark Ginther was hit by a pitch to reach base and Trey Whaley followed that up with a double to score Ginther and make it a 2-1 game.

Oklahoma State followed it up with a run in each of the fifth and sixth innings as well.

But the real damage came in the seventh and eighth innings. In the top of the seventh, Whaley and Jared Womack each picked up RBIs to extend OSU's lead to a commanding 6-2.

Kansas State, however, took advantage of a couple of OSU mistakes in the bottom of the same inning to rally back. The Wildcats scored on an error, a passed ball and an RBI single to pull back within a run.

But the Cowboys came through with more big production in the eighth, scoring three runs to put the game out of reach.

Womack, Ginther and Whaley had two RBIs each in the game.

Pitcher Kyle Ottoson got the win for OSU, throwing four innings and giving up three hits and three earned runs.

Matt Applegate got the loss for KSU.

Oklahoma State's sweep of the Wildcats was their first road series victory so far in conference play, and has the Cowboys a half game out of third place in the Big 12 standings.

Up next for OSU is the three-game Bedlam series, starting with Friday's game in Tulsa at 7 p.m.
