City officials are breaking ground on a new park space for Tulsa's north side.
Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett and Tulsa city councilor Jack Henderson helped turn dirt at the northwest corner of Pine Street and Peoria Avenue on Wednesday.
Developers will put up a plaza there, which will include two 7-foot bronze sculptures-- one of George Washington Carver, the other of Booker T. Washington.
Developers say the area represents a gateway into the community and hope it will become a gathering place for neighbors.
