Two TU Players Named To Conference All-Academic Team

After clinching a Conference USA championship Sunday, Tulsa grabbed a few more accolades Tuesday as Cassidy Bowen and Jill Barrett were selected to the 2012 Conference USA Softball All-Academic Team, both receiving the honor for the first time.

Bowen, who hails from Claremore, Okla., continues her academic success at TU, holding a 3.62 grade point average as a business-finance, pre-med major. The junior catcher has been named twice to the C-USA Commissioner's honor roll, TU Dean's List and Athletic Director's list.

Barrett holds at 2.64 GPA in exercise and sports science, and education. She has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, the TU Dean's List and Athletic Director's List as well. As well as her academic success, the sophomore has hit safely in 43 of 50 games this season.

Tulsa will open the postseason at 11 a.m. Thursday in the C-USA tournament, taking on Southern Miss at the UAB Softball Field.
